As to Destiny 2, they really need to work on how endgame content is built and how players can actually access it if they want me to buy their game again. As well, they never to my knowledge included a Looking For Group function or even matchmaking for endgame things such as Raids, Nightfalls, Prison of Elders, etc. Walden J I would have to agree with almost all of these issues mentioned in this article. I was not happy with the story and made me ask the basic question: Your just going to different places doing different things with no real purpose. I have high hopes for Destiny 2, but I will not pre-order.
The Esoteric Practices of Destiny’s Dads
Helping gamers rage less and enjoy their games more. I have already argued in a post and video that the split identity of Destiny is bad for the future of the franchise, and have also written and done a video about how PVP lacks enough engagement to warrant lots of development attention. Sadly, in the current state of PVP shooters, connecting people based primarily on connection is considered divergent.
Shooters like Call of Duty, and even recently Battlefield, have been simplifying their games to make them more accessible to players with less skill. So the acquisition and adaptation process was painful and pretty frustrating.

Its bad enough they ruined Nightfalls Gee how do we make Nightfalls more interesting.. Is there gear you can get in a raid that gives an advantage in pvp? So if you want the highest power level you have to do the raid for gear of higher power from the raid chests. And as Power IS what light level was if you want the best damage and the most resilience you need the highest power.
So yes it has thing that will give you an advantage in pvp even if your only using them to infuse. So in this respect they are forcing people to raid via necessity. Then those people are forced to have a lower power level than everyone else. There should not be only one way to get max power. My friends who raid for example are ish they were within a coupple or three raids. My power is crawling up super super slowly.
The Major Problem Destiny 2 Didn’t Fix
By William Usher 3 years ago If you were hoping to log-in to Destiny, fire up the game menu and open an option to instantly find a good raid team via a matchmaking tool The designer addressed the issue of finding decent matches for raids via in-game tools. Smith shoots down the idea that they need traditional tools that people are accustomed to, when discussing matchmaking I think that’s the challenge. It’s not how do we change the raid-design philosophy to allow for matchmaking.

– OFFICIAL – IGN’s Destiny Raid Matchmaking
Never got any of the expansions, so feel free to correct me on things. My argument is that raids in WoW and SWTOR have a form of matchmaking Group Finder that allows people to play a selection of raids from easy to hard difficulty for the older content. I know for SWTOR, the newer raids aren’t included in the Group Finder until later on in the year when people are more geared and experienced with the current expansion.
Considering these raids are more complex than VoG and still require people to play their role at a basic level, it’s not like Destiny has to worry about people’s classes considering everyone’s primary method of doing damage is with shooting. Within that raid, you will also get another reward for getting up to a certain point with a Group Finder group.
Since launch, Destiny players have been asking for matchmaking to be added to the game’s harder content, and now Bungie has finally listened. With the release of patch , mandatory matchmaking will be added to all three levels of Destiny‘s Weekly Heroic Strike. However, this does mean that.
During the first gameplay reveal in Los Angeles yesterday , Bungie executives took the stage to outline the substantial quality of life improvements the sequel will introduce to make this happen. From removing the need to load in and out of one area for different activities to letting players more easily group up with strangers, Bungie is going to great lengths to paint its new installment as a more thoughtful, well-meaning, and accessible video game.
On top of the grind of daily play and the ever-increasing amount of items to collect, Destiny was hobbled by befuddling design choices and maddening technical constraints. Players complained endlessly about not having enough space for all their gear and weapons, the lack of narrative and cinematic direction, and an almost Kafkaesque progression system.
Destiny spent its first year looking like an extended beta , as Bungie tweaked and changed it constantly in response to player feedback. The end result was a title that reminded players that their time just might be better spent elsewhere, creating a constant tug-of-war battle between that nagging feeling and the satisfying, dopamine rush of another new piece of loot or a hard-fought victory. For those without a dedicated group of friends to play with, Destiny could feel like an alienating and isolated experience.
In the sequel to Bungie’s popular shared-world shooter, the Guardians of Earth have finally met their match with a new villain who’s got his eyes on The Traveler. Our heroes, with their powers stripped away and all their gear destroyed, are pushed back to square one and have to relearn what it means to be a true Guardian of the Light. Though it’s sad to see our valuable Exotics fade into the ether, this turns out to be a blessing, as the next adventure for our characters will bring new challenges, new rewards, and an even greater feeling of satisfaction when succeeding in the next big battle.
Though the general grind in Destiny 2 is the same as in the previous game, there are a number of major differences.
Destiny Fan Creates Site Dedicated To Matchmaking September 19, at pm by William Schwartz E ver since the announcement that Raids in Destiny would be for friends and invites only the fans have been torn between both sides of the argument.
I play on PC. I was complaining how there was no easy way for me to do the Nightfall other than jumping through hoops LFG, Companion app. They disagree and seemed to think that it was a good thing that this was not an option due to how difficult the content can be and the amount of teamwork it requires and also that Bungie’s official stance is basically that they want you to make friends through using these vetting systems.
Destiny 2 does have the Guided Games system. But this does not really prove as adequate as regular matchmaking. There is the arbitrary stipulation that you must either be a solo player seeking to match with 2 other players who are of the same clan or vicd versa. Obviously, the queues are extremely lopsided with solo being upwards of a half hour sometimes vs a minute or two with a clan member. Adding matchmaking would not undermine the other systems that people if they want to avoid playing with randoms.
I feel the idea that Bungie does not allow matchmaking at these levels because it isn’t in line with their philosophy is really just them being willingly obtuse. While Bungie is fully within their artistic rights to make this decision, it feels to be a bit disregardful of their community. At what point is a developer expected to put their own “philosophy” on design aside for the wants of the community they are catering to?
Do you think this is something that’s rightfully justified or should very unlikely Bungie add a proper matchmaking system to Destiny 2?
Destiny 2 struggles to find a solution to raid grouping
Title sums it up, I’d like to get into Destiny 2 didn’t touch 1 but it seems like a lot of the fun is in running the strikes, etc. I mean — every game is more fun with your friends, right? Destiny is still fun without your friends. Nothing except nightfall and raids require any sort of coordination.
With the latest expansion dropping last month, “Destiny” now has a whopping 50 different exotic weapons, so we thought it’d be fun to rank them all. Now, for some background, I’ve personally.
How does matchmaking work in Call of Duty? When players enter the multiplayer game lobby in Call of Duty to participate in public online matches, they are automatically divided into groups before being placed in a match. The more map packs that are released, the more matchmaking pools there are. For example, players with DLC Packs 1, 2, and 3 will only be matched with other players who also have those three DLC map packs installed.
They will not get matched with players who only have some of these maps or none at all. What other factors can affect matchmaking? Network Connection Your local Internet connection quality, which itself is subject to a number of variables, can have an effect on the matchmaking process.
Destiny – Matchmaking Coming To Weekly Heroic Strikes, New Details On Next Update
Because I was late to play and pickup Destiny, one of my friends had promised to help me do some of the end game content like a raid, once I was properly leveled up. At the time, he was the only person I knew that played the game. I remember the groans and some quibbling over not doing certain things in the right way that would cause us to quickly have to start over. I also remember that, since I was new, I was keeping everyone back.
Destiny – The Collection contains every release from the award-winning first-person shooter franchise to date. It’s a great way for Guardians to embark on journeys they may have missed, as well as a perfect starting point for new players who want to join the Destiny community.
At first, I was rather annoyed with the news that the upcoming Destiny game does not have matchmaking for the raids. However, I have but recently come to accept it. However, after ruminating about the situation and discussing the issue with others, I realized that the feature is probably for the best. The daunting thing about the notion of friends-only raids is that I would have to spend a lot of time getting friends for a raid, when I really just want to start playing those missions as soon as possible.
Generally, when I play games, I am a solo player and do not want to give much thought about joining a clan or party for a multiplayer session. I just want to start playing. However, for Destiny, it is mandatory that I have a fixed preset group for the raid. However, there is another side of the story. There are benefits to playing with a group you are familiar with in that you are all united in your cause for Destiny.
This became incredibly annoying and made taking down enemies like Devil Walker a very trying, stressful experience. Having a fixed party for the raids creates a cohesive group with an integrated mission.
Destiny does prison of elders have matchmaking
By Ryan Winslett 4 months ago Destiny 2 has been out for several weeks and, in case you’ve missed all of the reviews , pretty much everyone agrees that this second outing was a huge step forward for the series. The game is more focused, has a far better campaign, and the team at Bungie did a good job of addressing many of the first game’s shortcomings.
Despite their best efforts, though, it appears at least one aspect of Destiny 2 is still woefully lacking: Earlier this year, Bungie unveiled a pair of features meant to address one of the biggest issues players had with the original Destiny. In the first game, players were unable to utilize matchmaking for Nightfall Strikes, the more difficult versions of three-player missions, and Raids , massive dungeon dives that require six team members to complete.
No random matchmaking for endgame raids in Bungie’s new “shared world” shooter Destiny? No problem, say these fans. They’ll just make their own. Well, OK, kind of a problem, actually. Despite.
Nov 5, jviggy43 said: And Ive had plenty of bad experiences using LFG. Lets not turn this into a “Well I raid 18 times a week and use LFG all the time so if your experience isn’t similar to mine you clearly never used it” debate. Do you really think every single one of my experiences were great? I’ve had my fair share of bad groups and shitty players. But the vast majority of my time using LFG has been successful. These sites wouldn’t exist or persist if they didn’t work or produce results for most people.
I’m just saying people claiming that LFG and matchmaking are exactly the same are just proving their ignorance and lack of experience in the matter. Maybe listen to the guy who’s done this a bit and has been around the block a few times instead of those who have little to no hands on experience. That’s not elitism, it’s common sense.
Matchmaking is finally coming to Destiny’s Weekly Heroic Strike
The enemies can overwhelm you in no time. Thankfully, you can group with other players and take on the challenges together. You can either play co-op with friends, or use matchmaking to connect with strangers. How to group with friends in The Division There are two options for playing with others: Finding groups can be done using the matchmaking option, either from the bases or directly from the map. There are three privacy settings for groups:
Destiny Needs Matchmaking Whether Bungie Agrees or Not. Add Alt Source “The repeated decision to take matchmaking options out of Destiny is becoming a major issue. The Fireteam Chat crew discusses why.” Destiny PS3 that on average for an experienced group (maybe sherpa’ing a couple new players) will take a little over an hour.
Comments Shares Due to a bug introduced in a recent update, the matchmaking system for Destiny 2’s quickplay PvP mode is currently not following the game’s usual skill-based formula. According to PvP design lead Derek Carroll, the bug “results in much faster—but lower-quality—matches than normal. Ordinarily, quickplay players are grouped according to their Crucible stats and their connection strength. This makes for fairer games, but also slower and tougher games, which isn’t what some people come to quickplay mode for.
Many players argue that since Destiny 2 has a competitive playlist dedicated to down-to-the-wire contests of skill, it’s perfectly OK for quickplay to be a bit of a mess as long as it’s a fun mess. The Destiny forums and subreddit are overflowing with posts and comments praising quickplay’s accidental second wind and begging Bungie to leave the matchmaking as it is.
Destiny 2 YouTuber and PvP specialist True Vanguard made a video praising the current system, and also ran a Twitter poll to gauge the community’s opinion, which is an interesting piece of anecdotal evidence: Are you happy with current quickplay matchmaking? July 27, Of course, not everyone is happy, but that was true before the bug as well, and it seems Bungie is at least open to giving the current matchmaking system a shot: Carroll said “our plan for the immediate future is to take no immediate action, monitor the health of the playlist, take notes, and ready a potential fix.
